Student Visa for Luxembourg

For all students who wish to pursue higher education in Luxembourg are required to obtain a tourist or a student visa depending upon the duration and the type of study programme they are enrolled into.The study abroad aspirants are advised to carefully read below which explains about the requirements for student visas, application procedures, required academic qualifications, etc. 

Few points to take note while applying for student visas in Luxembourg

The students can obtain complete information from the Luxembourg consular offices and authorities who will allow sufficient time to complete the whole student visa application procedures. They are also strongly recommended to:
  • At least spend three months for the completion of the visa application process and receipt of a student visa.

  • It is also advisable to consult the local consular office of Luxembourg or Luxembourg Embassy to obtain the complete information which explains about the whole student visa application requirements for studying in Luxembourg.

  • Another important thing to keep in mind before leaving to country is to request for an authorization to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Luxembourg for a temporary stay in the country.

Costs for Different Visa Type
  • Airport transit visa (A): EUR 80
  • Short stay visa (C): EUR 80
  • Long stay visa (D): EUR 50
A reduced fee of EUR 35 is granted to nationals of Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Albania, Georgia, the Republic of North Macedonia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Children between the age of 6 and 12 are subject to a reduced visa application fee of EUR 40.

In accordance with Regulation (EC) No 539/2001 as amended, nationals of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia (excluding holders of passports issued by the Serbian Coordination Directorate) holding biometric passports are exempt from the visa obligation.
